Japanese TV crew visit to shoot documentary

A TOKYO-based production company called Panasonic Visuals Inc have been in the Isle of Man for five days shooting a TV documentary entitled The Dream Train of the World.
The crew filmed at a variety of locations including on the electric, steam and Snaefell railways, at the Railway Museum, Port Erin, the TT Course, Moore's kipper yard in Peel and Okell's Brewery.
They are planning to produce six episodes of the series, to be aired in August, one of which will be based in the Isle of Man. The programme will feature on BSi which is a cable channel and has a top viewing rate.
The channel is aired to 1,200,000 homes in Japan and the estimated advertising value for one minute of the programme equates to £7,000.
Tourism and Leisure Minister Adrian Earnshaw said: 'I am pleased to welcome this Japanese television crew and am delighted they have decided to film an episode of their television series on the Isle of Man. It is important that we raise the profile of the Island and build on the good TV publicity we receive.'
Other TV production assisted by the DTL this year include Escapade Gourmande for Belgium TV, ITV Granada's Grub's Up programme with Simon Rimmer, BBC Top Gear and Border Television's Hobbies series.
