PEELSTOCK III takes place at Peel Football Club this Saturday and it will feature a top line-up of talent playing for a good cause.
The music extravaganza, which runs from 4.30pm to 11.30pm, will raise money for the Tommy Clucas Memorial Fund.

On the bill are Sam Porter, Many Beards, King Chiaullee, The Behavers, The Ballaghs, Maldune and Vex Mama.

The latter will be the last band on and the event will go ahead no matter what the weather is like.

Peelstock – whose name is a nod to legendary music festival Woodstock – is now an established event on the musical calendar.

The Tommy Clucas Memorial Fund is a charity set up following the death of popular Peel sportsman, Tommy Clucas, who died while leading the last lap of the Junior MGP 2004.

Since then, family and friends have been working hard to raise funds to build an indoor community sports facility at Peel's ground in his memory. Funds raised to date total £110,000, which is more than half way to the target.

Last year's Peelstock saw 800 come through the gate and it is hoped to match, if not exceed, that number this time.

Admission is £5 for adults, £2 for under-18s and free to under-12s who are accompanied by an adult. There will be a burger bar and licensed beer tent, but no alcohol is to be brought in.

Spokesman Kelvin Dawson said: 'Peelstock is a great event and hopefully if the sun shines we can expect hundreds of people. The support and help we have received has been astounding. Tell all your friends and get the bus down to Peel.'

Mike Wade, singer and guitarist with The Ballaghs, said: 'I am really looking forward to playing at Peelstock, we love playing around Peel and its always great to play a good one day event and this is extra special as it is for Tom's fund.

'My family had a close association with Tom and it's good to do our bit for the charity.'

Prior to his racing career Tom dedicated more than 20 years of his life to football.

He played and excelled at club level for Peel AFC and also for several years at international level for the IoM national team.

His international career was cut short by a devastating cruciate ligament injury and he was told he would never play again at any level.

Tom ignored this advice and with determination and months of post operative recovery/rehabilitation he once again pulled on the red and white shirt of Peel's first 11 and added numerous more trophies to his mantelpiece.

He is much missed in the town and Peelstock has become a great way of raising money for a good cause in his name.
